Newport Cricket Club's Spytty Park, Cricket Facility

In a major boost to Women’s Cricket in Wales, ECB have announced that the prestigious ECB Women’s Club’s T20 UK Finals Day will be held at Newport Cricket Club in 2018. ECB Competition Finals haven’t previously been held in Wales, but with fantastic facilities available, Newport Cricket Club has been selected as the venue for ECB Women’s Club’s T20 Finals Day.

Following extensive ground and facility inspections ECB have confirmed that both the Women’s Club T20 Final and Plate Competitions will be played at Newport’s Spytty Park HQ on Sunday 24^th June. With 70 teams entering the competition, the Finals Day will see the culmination of the best 4 Women’s Club teams in each competition, playing in semi-final and Final matches. 

Newport Cricket Club Chairman, Mike Knight enthused, ‘Having hosted many major events in recent years, including being the designated ICC Champions Trophy Training Base for Sri Lanka in 2013 and Pakistan in 2017, the club has great experience of hosting high profile fixtures and ECB can be assured that the participating teams at the UK Women’s Club’s T20 Finals will have a memorable day.  We’re sure that with 8 competing teams and matches on both grounds the UK Women’s Finals day will create a lot of interest’.

Newport Cricket Club has a large Women and Girls Cricket section, with a Women’s team and U11, U13, U15 and U17 Girls teams.
