Derek and Glenys, during a family holiday returning to Newport in 2019
Newport Cricket Club received the sad news that Glenys Porter passed away peacefully
at home in Australia after an 18 month battle with Cancer.
Glenys was very much part of Newport CC in the 70s and early 80s
during the Club's Rodney Parade Days.
She was a staunch ally for the club, organising teas and tea rotas
and galvanising the women's section for many years.
Glenys never missed a match, supporting her husband Derek, who was a former1st X1 captain,
captaining the club in the historic National KO season in 1979,
when the club beat National Champions Cheltenham,
before losing to Reading in the National KO Quarter Finals.
The family along with brother David emigrated to Australia in the early 80's
Our love, thoughts and prayers go out to the family. RIP Glenys.
