It has been another successful season for Newport Cricket Club Junior Teams, despite the bad 
weather spoiling many matches. Unfortunately, the Gwent Finals Day at Sudbrook was another 
victim of the weather with all 3 Finals cancelled. 

U11 Final - Newport v Chepstow

U15 Final - Newport v Abergavenny
The cancellation of Finals Day meant the Finals had to be played separately at different venues.

Newport U11 Team

The U11's were unbeaten in the league programme with wins against Ponthir, Fugitives, Abergavenny (x2) 
and Chepstow. In the Cup competition, they won their way through to the Gwent U11 Cup Final, with wins 
against Llanarth, Newbridge and Croesyceiliog, to set a Cup Final date with Chepstow at Newport CC.

In a close match of good quality Newport scored 93-2 (20 overs), with Chepstow reaching the target in 
the 17th over for the loss of 1 wicket.

U11 Abergavenny Super 8 Winners

Newport U13 Team
The U13's were split into two equal ability teams and both teams enjoyed an excellent league programme 
playing lots of league and friendly matches. The teams combined for Cup matches but were beaten by St Fagans 
in the Welsh Cup, before progressing through to the Final of the Gwent Cup where they played Llanarth at Sudbrook.
Llanarth batted first and scored 163-5 off 20 overs. Newport replied with 146-7 (Ben Griffiths 40) leaving Llanarth 
winners by 17 runs.

U13 Gwent Cup Runners Up

Newport U15 Team
The U15 Team were unbeaten in their league programme, but suffered many cancellations throughout the season, 
not just due to the bad weather. In the Welsh Cup they lost in the early rounds to St Fagans, but progressed through 
to the Final of the Gwent Cup against Abergavenny, following wins over Sudbrook and the Fugitives.
In the Final At Newport CC Abergavenny won the toss and batted, scoring109-8 (20 overs), Jak Cosker 3-8. Newport in reply 
eased to victory scoring 110 -1 in 17.4 overs. Fahad Anser scored an excellent 46no. Harry Wallace 33.
Jak Cosker won the Man of the Match Award for his 3 - 8 bowling spell.
