Changing Rooms Bombshell!

February 2013

In a bid to cut costs in the Leisure Dept. City Council officials are planning to close the
Squash Court Building,
adjacent to the Cricket Pavilion, at the beginning of April.
The proposals are currently out for consultation, before
being submitted to a Full Council
Meeting in the middle of February.
  •
This will have a major impact on the cricket Club:-
    1. No changing rooms for our Junior teams or 3rd & 4th Teams or other any other teams using the
      Reserve Team Ground.
    2. No use of the boiler which heats our existing shower area in the pailion.
    3. No Umpire's Changing Rooms, which are also in the Squash Court Building.
At a time when the Club is expanding rapidly, through the development of Women's & Girls Cricket
the Club faces a real dilema.
  • Meetings with City Council representatives have been positive and there is a possibility that the
Cricket Club will be allowed to take on the running of the Changing Rooms Building. However, with
the Changing Rooms being in such a poor state of repair, a Major Project will need to be undertaken
by the Club involving the raising of much needed funds.
The Club will be looking for as much support as possible from Local Business' and all its members,
with this Project.
Further details to be announced shortly.
