1st X1 Player of the Year - Harry Powell
Opening bowler and Glamorgan Academy prospect, Harry Powell, had an outstanding season, leading the Newport bowling attack.
Harry took 29 league wickets at an average of 18.69 with best figures of 5-35 against Sully.
2nd X1 Player of the Year - Scott Thornton
Scott represented the Wales U15 Team and took part in the prestigious 'Bunbury Festival' playing for the West of England team.
His performances for the Newport 2nd X1 were outstanding with both bat and ball, scoring 567 league runs with an average of 47.25,
while his off spin bowling accounted for 26 league wickets at an average of 13.23, with best figures of 5-20 v Ammanford.
Remarkably, Scott finished top of the South Wales Premier League (Reserve Division) Batting and Bowling Averages.
3rd X1 Player of the Year - David Cook
Dave played several games in the 2nd X1 and was always available to play in whatever team he was chosen for.
In 3rd X1 matches he topped the bowling averages, claiming 8 league wickets at an average
of 15.88 with best figures of 4-40 against Ton Pentre.
4th X1 Player of the Year - Talah Ubaid
Talah was the real star performer, showing great commitment throughout the season, he topped both the 4th X1 batting
and bowling bowling averages. He scored 715 league runs at an average of 59.58 with a best score of 114 against Mountain Ash
and claimied 24 league wickets at an average of 14.79 with best figures of 4-19 against Bridgend,
to rightfully claim the 4th X1 Player of the Year Award.
Young Player of the Year - Scott Thornton
It was not only Scott's Senior performances that caught the eye, but also his junior performances. He represented Wales U15's
and was selected in the 'West of England' Team who competed in the Bunbury Festival.
His performances along with his commitmentfor the Club's U15 team were exceptional and he led the team to the League & Cup Double,
receiving the 'Man of the Match' Award in the Final, for the second year running.
Well done Scott on a memorable 2013 season. One to watch for the future!
